Hayyuj, Judah ben David
(c.945-c.1000)
   Spanish Hebrew grammarian. He was born in Fez but arrived in Cordoba in 960 and lived most of his life in Spain. He wrote a study of Hebrew pronun-ciation, a philological commentary on the biblical books from Johsua to Ezekiel, and two treatises on Hebrew verbs. A translation of his grammatical works from Arabic into Hebrew by Moses Gikatilla was the first of its kind.
